Food Writing

I wrote a column for Table Matters called “Forgotten Foods” about the history behind once-popular recipes (read what BoingBoing says about it!). My previous column at Table Matters, “DIY,” and my related work at The Smart Set centered around the history of and how to make your own versions of foodstuffs we typically buy readymade, from ketchup to bran flakes to veggie burgers.

I’m also the author of the humorous cookbook Little Old Lady Recipes (Quirk Books, 2011).

Reviews, Etc.

These largely Philadelphia-specific articles are reviews, yes, but with a good dose of area food history, subjecting myself to stupid things to eat, and getting yelled at by a woman wearing a romper after I bought donuts in West Philly.
